These are the basic rules of the various competitions.
SHPF XC League Trophies and Prizes
These are for pilots who reside in Scotland and have their main club registered as one of the SHPF clubs. The flights must be entered on the XC League (xcleague.com) and start in Scotland. There is no need to pay the XC League entry fee for the SHPF ranking, though pilots may do so if they want their flights to enter nationally as well. Flights must be valid as per the XC League rules, such as keeping clear of any airspace that you are not allowed to fly in. Pilots need to be Pilot rated, as per the current (2025) BHPA guidance.
Flights will be accepted as per the XC League from 01/11/2024 through to 31/10/2025.
A trophy is awarded to each of the hang glider and paraglider pilots who score highest in the SHPF XC League.
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three pilots in the SHPF XC League, regardless of their wing type.
A trophy is awarded to the pilot entering the longest straight-line flight, i.e. with no turn points or multipliers.
Cash prizes are awarded to three pilots with the highest scoring flights in the SHPF XC League made on paragliders of EN B or lower certification. Only one prize per pilot is awarded and where a pilot has multiple flights within this category, only their best flight will count.
Cash prizes are awarded to three pilots with the highest scoring flights in the SHPF XC League made on paragliders of EN C or lower certification (these may also be flights eligible for the previous category). Only one prize per pilot is awarded and where a pilot has multiple flights within this category, only their best flight will count.
A cash prize is awarded to the pilot with the highest scoring flight made on a Sports Class hang glider.
Scottish Nationals
The Nationals will run from 01/03/2025 through to 31/10/2025. Eligible flights must be submitted by 30 November. Only weekend flights will be scored (Saturdays and Sundays).
Prizes are awarded to the three pilots with the highest scores in the competition at the end of the season.
Full details are on the Scottish Nationals page.
