The Scottish Hang-gliding and Paragliding Federation (SHPF) exists to represent the sports of hang-gliding and paragliding within Scotland. We are a voluntary group of flying enthusiasts who represent a number of constituent Clubs and Schools.
The SHPF sponsors a number of events such as reserve repacks, safety and coaching courses, and competitions.
If you’re interesting in flying in Scotland, either learning or as an experienced pilot, check out our Flying in Scotland page for more information.

STRATHENRY CUP 2026: Congratulations to Graham Tydeman who took off from East Lomond on the 11th May and flew round the course for the Strathenry Cup, thereby being not only the first person this year but also in the history of the competition to do so. He then completed the bonus challenge of flying to Strathenry to receive a bottle of whisky. The flight can be viewed on the XC League here. Note that as this was on a Monday it is not eligible for the Scottish Nationals which is a weekend only competition.
WEBSITE Update 16/06/2025: The competition rules and results have been moved / added to the Events page. Note the Strathenry Cup has been shortened this year to just the triangle without the need to make goal at Graham’s house.
SCOTTISH NATIONALS Update 14/06/2024: Due to site restrictions Wingbeat have changed their two tasks. They are both now from Witchie Knowe, one heading NE to Earlston and the other NW to Biggar, with distances of 24km and 33km respectively.
