Emergency Parachute Systems - one day course 18th October 2014

This was sucessfully held in the Raeburn Suite at the EICA, Ratho

By the end of the course, participants improved their knowledge of the function and use of emergency parachutes.

This one day course was designed to go beyond the supervised Club pack but not into the high level detail or requirements of the BHPA EPPS Course.
Participants learned more about emergency systems rather than just their own equipment, increase their confidence in making judgements and have a balanced view of their own ability to advise and assist others at Club level.

This course did not qualify participants for the BHPA EPPS qualification however it did provide a good introduction to those who may wish to work towards this through the formal training.

Participants brought their own equipment, harness, reserve but not main Wing and manual for harness and reserve. Though course organisers had a library of manuals but not guaranteed that all types are held, particularly new or novel types.

The agenda was

Scottish Nationals Paragliding Series

A fun and enjoyable round was hosted /run by Iain Robertson and Mike Dearman of the Highland Paragliding Club though sadly it was sparsely attended.
Both days were open distance tasks (Creag Meagiadh and Slochd) with Mike Jardine being the winner on both days. This brought him upto 3rd within the Nationals leader board whilst Sean Figgitt remained the leader and winner for the year and with Gordon Smyth in second place.

The winner was Sean Figgitt and he is now competition leader closely followed by Gordon Smyth who was previously leading and then Alastair Tytler.

Przemek has kindly created a Google Earth file here - which you should be able to download and use to see all the tracks from the Sunday.
