Arran is Green!

All looking good for 2 days of flying on Arran.
Enjoy if you go,
Scott

The Arran round is this weekend! Boat leaves Ardrossan at 9:45 - be there early!

Meeting: Sat (and Sun, unless agreed otherwise on Sat) 10:45 at the Douglas Hotel - across the road from Brodick Ferry Terminal

There will be limited transport places available so we need to know numbers or you need to bring a car to share. If bringing a car you need to book with www.calmac.co.uk as fares are a lot cheaper so ferries are getting very busy.

Evening meal food at the Ormidale Hotel in Brodick.

Accommodation options

  • Free camping available at the North Glen Sannox Picnic Area.
  • Douglas Hotel - Tel 01770303899 or 07717712727 to book.

Hopefully weather plays ball will update Thursday evening,

Downhill MTB World Cup Fort William

From Mike Jardine:

The annual Mountain Bike World Cup is at Nevis Range on 4-5 June.

Please be aware that preparations will affect access and car park landing options for pilots thinking of flying at Nevis Range.

Mon 30 May - Wed 1 June
Use of gondola and usual take off points OK. Landing in the car park will be very difficult, if not impossible due to the amount of trucks and tents moving into position. Onsite parking OK.

Thur 2 June - Fri 3 June
Use of gondola and usual take off points OK. Landing in the car park not possible. Limited parking options, especially on Friday when you will have to park at the Rural Complex on the access road (3).

Sat 4 and Sun 5 June
Use of gondola and usual take off points OK - but you will also have to buy an event ticket to get into Nevis Range and there will be lengthy queues for the gondola. Landing in the car park not possible. Parking at Rural Complex is 5 or Park and Ride at Blar Mor on the Mallaig road.

Mon 6 June
Use of gondola and usual take off points OK. Landing in the car park will be very difficult, if not impossible due to the amount of stuff being dismantled and moved. Onsite parking OK.

Please bear this in mind when planning any fun stuff next week.

PG Nationals Series 2016

Here's the latest from Nationals Coordinator Scott Mather on the plans for this years rounds:

Hello Everyone,
This weekend we are due to start this years Scottish Nationals with a round within the Highland clubs area. In essence this could mean anywhere from lower Speyside to the far Northwest (but most likely Spey valley). After this weekend flying hopefully the appetite to go and fly different areas and meet fellow flyers will be whetted, no guarantee of 220 k tasks! At the moment the weather forecast is not suggesting it will be looking too promising, but a decision will be made on Thursday evening as to whether this round will go ahead. This will be posted on the Google groups etc. This comp is the introductory route to competition flying and may take many forms n a sociable and supportive environment. If you have any questions fire away or ask a more experienced flyer within your club. As a heads up the following weekend, the bank holiday weekend, it is due to be the Arran round.

All the best,
Scott

The calendar is as follows (dates may change due to weather etc.):

  • Highland: 21-22 May
  • Arran: 28-29 May
  • Ochils: 2-3 July
  • Wingbeat: 27-28 August
  • LLSC: to coincide with club BBQ
  • Aberdeen: TBC (probably April or May)

Any questions just get in touch. Have a good season and look forward to getting to some rounds.

Scott
